Is pregnancy a contraindication to Lipitor

Hi...I am 30 years old and have just been diagnosed with high cholesterol, they feel that it is familial and I was told that it is very hard to eat ones way to a cholesterol this high...numbers are TotalChol 296 Trig 248 LDL 201 HDL 46 VLDL 50

My FP is putting my on Lipitor, but I wanted to know if that was the best choice for someone contemplating a pregnancy. Is there a better drug for someone in my position? If and when we choose to get pregnant, are there any residual effects from the cholesterol lowering medication? Thanks for answering. Kristi
