Re: Tender/Aching Hip Joints

Sparkee,

I had HORRIBLE hip problems throughout my last two pregnancies (3 total). With my second, I was waddling at 5 months because it was the only way I could walk comfortably.

Basically, it's relaxin your body is producing playing havoc with your joints. Not a whole lot helps, but I found that if I kept a firm pillow between my knees at night, this did relieve the pressure on my hips...even the one that I was resting on. Another thing I found was that being in water helped. My last 10 weeks I went to water aerobics classes (also to help control the swelling in my feet) and found that it really helped my hips. Course at that point, it could have been sheer exhaustion causing me to sleep. ;-) Unfortunately, this is one of those grin and bear it times.

The only other thing is that I have a history of hip dysplasia in my family (my sister). I was told that I should probably have an US done (after I delivered) on my hips to verify that I don't have the dysplasia as it is hereditary. I need to get the referral from my Dr to have that done.

Good Luck,

--
Carolyn
