The test in the doctor's office may be slightly more sensitive than the one you can but in the store, but not by much (a day at the most). The earliest I ever saw a test in my office turn positive (my wife, who really should know better) was cycle day 27, and even then it was so faint that we needed a confirmation a few days later before we believed it.
