Early signs of multiple pregnancy

At 7 weeks gestation, my abdomen is already distended and has been for a week or so. I am aware women usually begin showing earlier in subsequent pregnancies but this seems a little early. I know the date of my last cycle so the gestation period is accurate. My diet is good, focusing on nutritious, low calorie foods.

What are the early signs, if any, of a multiple pregnancy? Also, I have been spotting, mostly brown, for approximately 1.5 weeks. I never spotted during pregnancy except the one that ended in miscarriage. Scheduled for OB/GYN visit Monday, HCG levels have not been determined. Someone indicated a distended abdomen could also be a sign of miscarriage. I have never heard this one, is that true?
