Oral Surgery in Early PregnancyFrom: B. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 24 Feb 1999 16:54:48 -0600 (CST)
I found out I was pregnant four days after I had oral surgery to remove my wisdom teeth. I was given .25 milligrams of Xanax approximately one hour before surgery, a slight dose of nitrous oxide, and "Verset" (like Valium) intravenously during the surgery. After the surgery I was given a prescription for Meprozine of which I took four over a two day period. Additionally, I was taking Amoxicillin before and after surgery to prevent infection, most of which I took. I calculated that I was approximately two weeks pregnant at the time of the surgery. How concerned should I be about potential risks to my baby. Becky Anderson
