Should I be checking for fetal movements daily?

Hello, I am 30 weeks pregnant and I was wondering if I should be checking for fetal movements on a daily basis? Is it possible for the baby to have slower days then others? I have read to check 2 times a day and count the movements until you reach 10 and that usually happens within 10 minutes. I tried this and it is not true for me, my baby does not move much at night or in the morning, but sometimes throughout the day, and every day is different. Should there be a pattern to the movements?

Thanks, Chelsey
