Re: how long to wait after miscarriageFrom: Carolyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 23 Feb 1999 17:13:11 -0600 (CST)
Mary, I think, in general, it is recommended to wait until trying to conceive again for two reasons. First, some women need to grieve the loss of the pregnancy/baby. Some are able to do this quickly, some need time. Some need to make sure that another pregnancy would be "separate" from the miscarriage. Second, and having been there, I think this is the most likely...it usually takes your body a couple months to resume it's "normal" cycle. I had a period 6 weeks after I miscarried, but I don't believe I ovulated until 3 months after I miscarried. (I used OPKs to determine IF I was ovulating). Personally...take whatever time you need then try again...but don't be frustrated/disappointed if it doesn't happen right away. Your body will be ready when it's ready.
