I BELIEVE that membrane stripping works, though not reliably; the reality is that there is little objective evidence that stripping speeds delivery. I still do it. There are several situations like yours where I hope that a patient will go into labor sooner rather than later but don't quite meet that standard for more effective methods induction of labor. Membrane stripping is an option in those cases.
