U/S determination of genderFrom: Adam (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 22 Feb 1999 09:14:46 -0600 (CST)
We recently had a level 2 ultrasound at 21 weeks to rule out recessive polycystic kidney disease. The U/S was able to give our child a clean bill of health. We were also able to see that we are going to have a boy. My wife and I both saw what we thought was a penis from a side angle and we have a picture. The tech saidthat she wasn't allowed to say 100% but she said that it was a boy. My question is how accurate would a level 2 U/S be at 21 weeks in determining the gender? I read in an earlier posting that a loop of umbellical cord could resemble a penis. How likely is that to be the case in a targeted U/S? I have our U/S pics posted on the web if anyone would care to take a peek and give me their opinion. I would greatly appreciate it as both my wife and myself are extremely excited about the prospect of having a boy. You can see the pics here: http://homepages.infoseek.com/~cliffjumper/camden.html
