Re: Dr. Shanahan re: second miscarriageFrom: Marcia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 22 Feb 1999 07:40:51 -0600 (CST)
I'm not a doctor, but I, too, was in the position of waiting a month and also having an HSG (the test with the dye that you are describing). I also thought the test was sort of a waste of time/money because I'd gotten pregnant 3 times (one went to term) before. However, it was one of the more invasive tests that my doctor suggested first. I did trust his opinion as well. If you are having concerns, it might be a good idea to let him know. As expected, my tubes were clear (it was actually really cool to see the dye in the tubes and uterus and I didn't have much discomfort) and my uterus was shaped normally. The shocker at the end of my HSG is that the doctor wanted us to wait *another* month, to get back all the other test results! I was really annoyed by that! In retrospect, I now feel that I needed the time to recover emotionally. In the end, my diagnosis involved the use the controversial treatment of progesterone therapy. But it worked for me! I now have an almost 11 month old son! As Dr. Shanahan says, there are no guarantees. My doctor said those exact words to me. My reply was that I didn't want a guarantee, but some sort of chance to hope.
I am thinking good thoughts for you and if you want, you may send
personal e-mail to me. Good luck!Sun, 21 Feb 1999, lisa wrote:
