blighted ovumFrom: Sheila (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 19 Feb 1999 19:58:12 -0600 (CST)
I'm 36 yrs old and have now had 2 consecutive pregnancy losses within the last 6 months, both due to blighted ovum. I have been referred to the Recurrent Pregnancy Loss program to determine if there is a cause for these losses. However, I must wait 2 months to even speak with anyone, and I am having troubles getting an answer to my questions. Specifically, what percentage of blighted ovum are random, and if not random, then what are other possible causes? Further, if not random, then what if anything can be done to remedy the situation? I am concerned that, after waiting 2 months to be seen at the RPL clinic, then another 2 months to get the testing done (all the while not allowed to get pregnant, the doctors then tell me: a) it's random, go home (good news), or b) it's "x,y, or z" and now we know what the cause is, and the bad news is that we can't fix it. So, my question is: can blighted ovum be "fixed"? Thank you in advance for any help you can give me in this regard.
