Amniotic fluid loss--Update

Hi again

Thanks to those who answered my original post. I wanted to update you on what has happened since my PROM on January 21st.

I went to the specialist and we found that I am holding some water, and definitely producing water. Not holding much, but some. Even though I had leaked some everyday from Monday until this past Friday, my fluid level was at 4.9...meaning I had even gained a bit. The Dr. didn't put me on strict bedrest, which surprised me. He only said for me to stay off my feet as much as possible. He also isn't putting me on any more antibiotics once I run out of the ones I'm taking. I'm now exactly 22 weeks, and the baby will be considered viable by my Dr. in 2 weeks (on Valentines Day) I go back to him on February 12 and he said that at that time we will discuss hospitalization. He said this would be up to me. I have tried to consider reasons for going in the hospital, and reasons for not...but I can't decide what to do. My main reason for not wanting to is my children at home. I have help with them, so keeping me off my feet will not be a problem, but being away from them would absolutely kill me. I would be a basket case after a day or so. I am wondering what benefits staying in the hospital would have over going in for monitoring 3-4 times a week for a few hours?

I have been in contact with some other "PROM moms" since this happened, and it has helped a great deal!

BTW, I still have had no pains, no contractions, nothing that would make me think I am going into labor.

My Dr. has me checking my temp 2 times a day (infection) and I'm to go to the hosp. if it reaches 100.

I know that if I have a preemie baby, the hospital I'm delivering at is one of the best (Norton/Kosair Childrens) so I know my baby will have the best chance, and the best care. I am just trying to keep my sanity during this "wait and see" period. The not knowing what's going to happen next can be so tough.

Thanks

Dee
