Yes, it is true that cats can carry a disease known as Toxoplasmosis - can cause miscarriage, blindness to baby among other things. Especially if you have an outdoor cat you should steer clear of the litter box. It is carried in the feces. I believe it is possible to have your cat tested but its safest to stay away - this disease can also be found in raw meats. As for vacuuming, well, its good exercise and although you may be able to get out of cleaning the litter box, I see no reason why vaccuuming should cause a problem. But if you want to pass that chore on to someone else, your secret is safe with me:-) Best Wishes, Elizabeth NJ
