I would suggest that she read the Epidural Express in Mothering. I have copies available that I would gladly send to her if she wanted them. My thing about medicated childbirth is that NO DRUG IS PROVEN SAFE!!! I know this from personal experience. If turns my stomach when doctors say epidurals are safe. My daughter had a severe reaction to the one I received and no one told me that it could happen. Medication interfeers with your body's birth process and leads to further unnecessary intervention and higher c/s. I feel that I can pose this strong view because we are all professionals here and know what I say is true and not off the wall. Still I commend your sister-in-law for wanting all the facts before she makes a decision.
