Need info for a debate: Why is natural birth better?

My sister-in-law called last night and is coming over tonight to get info from me for a debate she is in at college. She is debating for natural, unmedicated birth vs. medicated birth. She didn't give me much time to help her get info, and I have to work today, so I thought I'd turn to y'all.

Any answer you can give is helpful. If you know study references, then even better. She needs both scientific and non-scientific answers. Info AGAINST epidurals and medications and other inteventions would also be good.

I realize this is short-notice (for me too!) and covers stuff regularly covered on the mailing lists I am on. Private responses would probably be best because of that. I appreciate your responses, and thank you in advance!

BTW, my personal belief is that for normal birth, natural is best, but I also believe in a woman's right to make informed choices about the kind of birth she wants (and made informed choices for epidurals, myself, in 2 out of 3 of my vaginal births).
