Thanks for your help! It sounds like the potential for problems depends on what you are used to! I live at 1000ft. Is there any harm in visiting relatives who live in the mountains around 6000ft? Would a trip to Lake Tahoe be safe (I don't know the altitude there -- I think its around 8000ft)? Thanks, Andrea
