Re: Progesterone levels and miscarriageFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 22 Jan 1999 11:32:37 EST
In a message dated 1/22/99 3:51:50 PM, you wrote: Gina, My third pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 10 weeks due to low progesterone levels. My doctor ordered a blood test after my first visit to him which showed very low levels and immediately put me on progesterone hormone treatments (supositories). Although my levels rose and a strong heart beat was heard at 7 weeks my baby's heart still stopped - I was told it was due to the hormones being so low in the beginning. Hope this helps you a little. <<Thinking back now, the doc did not get any blood tests until the 14th
week. He never did an original blood test except the HCG to determine
if I was pregnant.......My question is, do you think a blood test should
have been ordered when I was bleeding and could low progesterone have
cause the heart to stop? I will see him on Monday but I want to be able
to tell him my thoughts and findings....Thanks.....Gina AGAIN
