Pre-eclampsiaFrom: Beth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 20 Jan 1999 12:23:52 -0600 (CST)
During my 36th week of my first pregnancy, my blood pressure suddenly shot up to 180/90 and I started spilling protein. After 3 days of bed rest, labor was induced and my son was born with no complications. After delivery, it took 2 weeks of blood pressure medication and bed rest to bring my blood pressure down to normal. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant. My blood pressure has risen to 134/82 and I have protein present in my urine. My OB has recommended that I take 1 baby aspirin a day to control my condition as well as monitoring of my blood pressure. Questions: * Do you agree with this treatment? * Is this condition related to my previous bout with pre-eclampsia? * How will my elevated pressure effect the development of the baby? * What would cause this condition to occur so much earlier in the pregnancy this time? Thank you!
