Your abdominal muscles are not as involved in pushing as you might think. A better approach would be to elevate your general fitness. As the experienced mothers on this list can attest, pushing is more of an aerobic, endurance event, than a sprint, so any thing that improves your cardiovascular fitness will REALLY help. So, things like swimming, stationary bikes, walking, stair master, and so on will do really well for this purpose.
