I gave birth to my 3rd child(3rd daughter)in september and was diagnosed with hypertension at my 6 week checkup. I had no trouble with htn until the end of my pregnancy but have a strong family history of it. I cannot go on the pill now and would like some alternative contraceptive advice. My internist put me on microzide 25mg daily for the htn which is not getting any better. He says I must stop breastfeeding in order to go on any medication. My bp is roughly 155/100 most of the time. Are there any meds safe during breastfeeding? I really dont want to stop breastfeeding now, esp. since she is very healthy and it is cold and flu season. Thanks!
