Should see a fetal pole and heartbeat at this stage(especially with HCG>5000.Only 20% of fertilized eggs end up with term birth-really a "miracle,"the fall in HCG is very ominous.Most of these early losses represent an abnormal embryo--usually a defect in egg or sperm,and usually not recurrent.
