Re: Am I losing my baby?From: anonymous@obgyn.netSat, 2 Jan 1999 21:35:30 EST
<<I had an ultrasound done on 12-29. Sonographer couldn't find the baby. She said she only saw the yolk sac. By my LMP I should be 8-9 weeks. On 12-30, Dr. ordered b-HCG quantitative to be repeated in 48hr. 1st test results were 8450. 2nd results were 6120. There has been no bleeding and only very light cramping. I want to know if I have already miscarried or if I'm going to. And is there any way that I can prevent losing my baby. Hi there! I am not a doctor - I hope a physician will reply to you soon. I am a childbirth educator. From what I understand, your hcg should be doubling at this point, not decreasing, and that is where my concern is. I have miscarried and understand the pain and agony of uncertainty. I wish there was a trick to give you - bed rest, good food, etc. However, if you are going to miscarry, you are going to miscarry - there is absolutely nothing you can do or should have done to prevent it. It is very unfortunate but true. I wish I could have better advice for you - I may be waay off base here. However, I do have a lot of experience with this - personal as well as professional and if there is anything I can do or if you have any other questions feel free to ask. Best Wishes, Elizabeth NJ
