Re: Cloverleaf Skull?From: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 30 Dec 1998 13:54:25 -0600 (CST)
Cloverleaf skull is a generic term for what is known as Kleeblattschadel, and refers to a characteristic skull shape in which the cross-section resembles a 4-leaf clover. This is usually due to premature closure (calcification) of the cranial sutures, though Nyberg, Mahony & Pretorius state that "The precise mechanism responsible for this head shape is unknown,...." This condition is often associated with other anomalies such as hydrocephalus or certain types of dwarfism. For more information go to PubMed at the following Web URL: http://www3.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/htbin-post/Entrez/query?db=m&form=0 Then enter Kleeblattschadel as your search term. This will return approximately 50 articles concerning this condition. Good luck.
