subchorionic hemorrageFrom: Denese (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 29 Dec 1998 04:13:03 -0600 (CST)
I have been bleeding for the last few weeks intermittently. Yesterday I had an ultrasound and they found I had a subchorionic hemorrage. I understand it is a type of bleed around the placenta. What does this mean? I was told, at this point, my baby is not threatened and we don't need to do anything. I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant. Could this become life threatening to the baby? Are there things I should avoid, such as sex, heavy lifting, cleaning, etc.? I have found that I bleed after having sex. Please give me as much information as possible about this condition. I have never heard of it and it worries me. Also, I have a history of preterm labor. How will the subchorionic hemorrage affect the symptoms of preterm labor? Will I be more suseptible to preterm labor? (I start having symptoms of preterm labor around the 25th week.) I thank you in advance for your response.
