Often Crohns disease improves with pregnancy. I'm afraid as Asacol is brand name and brand names differ in different countries I can't answer your question as I don't know what is in the drug. However, most treatments are considered safe in pregnancy but discuss this with your doctor as one medication commonly used is category C. Often relapses can occur after delivery. The main problem with crohns during pregnancy is bleeding episodes that occur during it. (Anaemia in pregnancy is a problem anyway and this just confounds it). It is therefore important not to stop medication before speaking to your doctor as otherwise you are increasesing your chance of needing a blood transfusion.
