Oh the joy of pregnancy near term! I swear you could be describing me. I am 30 weeks and I have exactly what you describe your wife has. Its like an electric pain that shoots down my leg and OH! my tailbone pain is horrible. I had this so bad with my son at about 37 weeks I dragged my leg behind me and walking was almost impossible. Every step was shear pain. The only thing I found that helped was to rest and stay off my feet. Even laying in bed and rolling over made me yelp too, and does right now in my current pg. Warm showers like the other poster said does help somewhat. I was actually induced at 38.2 weeks with my son because the pain and nerve pinch was so bad they were worried about nerve damage due to numbness I kept getting. After the pregnancy I continued to have pain only if I moved too quickly like twisting sideways. A sports medicine Dr. gave me some stretching exercises. You might want to check with that type of Dr.

I really sympathize with your wife it is miserable, but will ease up after delivery. Phil you may have to carry her soon!! No joke on the day I was induced my Husband did carry me to the door LOL!
