thyroid disease and pregnancyFrom: Joyce (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 13 Nov 1998 02:48:32 -0600 (CST)
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 2 years ago and have been on the lowest dosage of synthroid (.025mg) since then...Well, I am 16 1/2 weeks pregnant and was taken off the medicin about 7 weeks ago and had another TSH about a week ago and found out that it is still reading <.02, as I am dealing with a different dr on this, I am military and have a civilian ob, he told me the only affects of hyperthyroidism and pregnancy is getting pregnant, but a book I have says that it can cause PROM or low birth weight...I tried to call my ob today but she didn't get a chance to return my call yet...I have an appt with her tomorrow, but was just wanting to get another opinion on this, they are going to retest my thyroid in about 2-3 weeks and said if it comes back again they may do a complete panel... can anyone help me?? I am just curious and concerned. Thanks for any information
