Dear Laura

Parvovirus infection in pregnancy can be a significant issue. The details are outwith the scope of a short email reply. It is important to be certain that you have actually contracted the infection since conception, if you have then you should see a fetal medicine specialist for further advice and management. You and your baby may not suffer any ill effects but it's better to be checked out by a recognised specialist. In extreme cases intrauterine fetal blood transfusion can become necessary but I have managed many patients who have needed no intervention at all.

There was a review/editorial in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) a couple of years ago, I can probably find the reference it you need but would prefer you met with a doctor who can help you face to face.

I hope things turn out OK and that you find a good specialist.
