Although habitual aborter is a term defined as 3 miscarriages, many practitioners will do a full workup or at least a basic workup after 2 losses. This may include a serum progesterone in the luteal phase, an endometrial biopsy, a semenanalysis and ureaplasm culture (although some debate this testing in someone whose partner has gotten pregnant), Anticardiolipin antibody and Lupus anticoagulant. Some may also recommend genetics on the parents and s sonohysterogram to check for uterine abnormalities. A thyroid and prolactin level may also be done. It is up to you and your practitioner as to how aggressive you wish to become with your testing. Therapy should be ased upon results.
