Am I High Risk?From: anonymous@obgyn.netMon, 2 Nov 1998 17:13:02 EST
I am 9 weeks into my third pregnancy. In my first pregnancy, I lost my "plug" and started having cervial dilation and effacement at 34 weeks..I was put on modified rest and didn't deliver until 39 weeks...With my second pregnancy, I started feeling contractions at 25 weeks..When the Dr. checked my cervix, it was 1 cm dilated and 80% effaced..I was put on bedrest, until 36 weeks, and my cervix never changed. I delivered at 38 weeks. Now, my question....am I at a higher risk for pre-term labor with this pregnancy? There was never a cause found for the other two...Since I made it to the "end" with both pregnancies, without drastic measures, I am wondering if it is just how my "cervix" is..If I hadn't been in bed would I have gotten worse?? I think it is worth saying that towards the last few weeks of confinement, I wasn't a very good patient and was probably out of bed more than in bed.....I guess I always thought that preterm labor scares, the real ones, happened no matter what...With two toddlers to take care of I am hoping that somehow I can manage to stay out of bed..any suggestions or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated...Kathy
