Rh antibodies and rhogamFrom: Becky (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 1 Nov 1998 05:39:16 -0600 (CST)
I tried posting this on the Women's Health board, but I never got a reply. I am rh negative and we now know that my husband is rh postive. My first baby was rh negative and I was tested and had no antibodies in the first trimester of the second pregnancy. I was given the Rhogam shot at week 30 or so during my second pregnancy 15 to 45 minutes BEFORE the blood was drawn for the test (Indirect Coombs?). The test came back showing that I had a titer of 1:1. I was assured that the Rhogam would still help in this situation because it was such an extremely low level of antibodies. My son was born with no apparent health problems, and I was given Rhogam after the birth. Is there any chance that the Rhogam caused the positive titer? If not, would Rhogam really help in this situation? What are risks with future pregnancies? Thank you for any help you can give me with these questions Becky
