Previous message: anonymous@obgyn.net: "Falls During Early Pregnancy" I am on 2.5mg of Brethine as needed for contractions. Tomorrow I start weekly steroid injections for lung maturity I am 25 weeks. Can Brethine be used while having steroid shots? I read at another website that the two can not be used together because it causes heart problems for the mom. The poster at the website said the only thing she can do for preterm labor is bedrest and home monitoring for contrax while on steroids but no meds (she is also 25 wks). I will be checking with my Dr. at my next appt. but wondered if in the meantime anyone can respond about these drugs to ease my mind? I know Brethine is hard on the heart to begin with but now wondering if steroids in combination is really bad? Another thought, if its true the 2 can not be used together, then what do hospitals prescribe for woman who are in preterm labor to hold it off and having steroids before delivery?
