Is it possible +/- APA antibodiesFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netFri, 23 Oct 1998 09:57:39 -0500 (CDT)
Here is a brief history, I have endo and have suffered a m/c at 8wks, preterm labor, resulting in PROM and the delivery of my son at 22.6wks (died shortly after birth) and now m/c at 10wks last week. When I found out I was pg, I asked to have my antibodies tested - it revealed I had antiphosphiolipid antibodies, the result was a 16 (I was told anything over a 10 is positive). I was placed on 1 (81mg) aspirin a day. At 7.2wks, u/s revealed normal growing fetus with heartbeat. At 10wks, u/s revealed no hearttones, and low amniotic fluid. Fetus measured 8.3wks. The dr ran APA test again, and it revealed level 6 (meaning negative). How can the test be positive when I'm pg and then - after fetus dies? Is this an indication of something. What other testing should I request? Is it possible that I didn't start the aspirin in enough time for it to prevent m/c? Your opinion would be greatly appreciated.
