Hi Maria,

Welcome to the OBGYN.net Pregnancy & Birth Forum! I have copied this from our instruction page. If you ahve any questions, please let me know - my email address is at the bottom.

Posting A Message For The First Time: The first time you post a message we will ask for your Email address. Enter it and click on OK. Then you will get a form for posting a message. As part of filling out this form you will enter your name (below your Email address) and your signature (at the bottom). These items will be saved. Notice the check box at the bottom of the form that says save Email address, name, and signature.

We will fill out your Email, name and signature for you on all future posts to the forum. All you will have to do is enter the subject and message.

NOTE: Some folks will find this feature does not work. It is because they are using a different computer than the one they originally used to post their first message, or they are using a service, like AOL, that does not support cookies. In these cases, you will be asked to enter your Email address and then we will know who you are and fill out the other two items (name and signature).

NOTE: We are saving this information for your convenience only. We will not distribute it to other individuals or organizations.

Each time you post a message, you have the option to change your Email address, name or signature. The check box at the bottom of the form is always checked, indicating that we will save any edits you make to your Email address, name, or signature. If you click on the check box it will remove the check and turn off the save edits feature. This is handy if you want to change your signature for one message, but want the old one to remain your default signature.

Replying to a Message in the Forum Everything works the same as it does when posting a new message. Here are the added features:

We fill in the subject line. This ensures the thread of discussion is tied together. If you edit the subject line it will break the thread and we will not be able to cluster your reply with the others when viewing messages by thread.

We quote the message you are replying to, just like most Email packages do. You should delete all but enough of the quoted message needed to remind folks what you are replying to. This is standard Email etiquette that you should always follow.

Do not try and correct any formatting of the quoted part of your message. We ’ll take care of that for you. We know it sometimes looks bad, but it will look fine when it gets posted to the forum. It just looks that way, because we are forcing it into a narrow area on the form.

Sincerely, Mary Shoup Coordinator, Pregnancy & Birth mary.shoup@obgyn.net
