severe pre-conception dietingFrom: angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 16 Oct 1998 15:08:47 -0500 (CDT)
I was on a starvation diet for about three and a half weeks. I know this was stupid, but I wasn't planning on getting pregnant and I lost about thirteen pounds. My problem is that during the end of it, I may have gotton pregnant. The day that I had unprotected sex, I started eating very well and taking vitamins. I am happily married and would like to keep the baby. What could be the effect on the baby's health, or the normalcy of the pregnancy? In particular, did I form an adequate nourishing environment in the womb, given that my nutritional intake was so restricted. Can that be made up for later? Another question, I am taking prenatal vitamins. (Ethex- Ultra-Natal). I believe that they are making my stool bright green and giving me diarrhea. Do I have to put up with this, or should I ask for a different type.
