In our hospital we perform a scan at the first hopital visit (usually between 8-14 weeks) for dating and to confirm viability. We offer a thorough anatomical check at 20 weeks by ultrasound and if the pregnancy is normal we do no more scans. Some patients have additional problems which require additional scanning. Other UK hospitals do not offer the same schedul, some do more some do less. The Radius study in the USA showed that there was little additional benefit from routine ultrasound but has been heavily criticised. Certainly to date no clear harm has been demonstrated from ultrasound examinations. Hope you get the answer you are looking for
