progesterone before pregnancyFrom: Andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 11 Oct 1998 21:37:05 -0500 (CDT)
My husband and I are trying once again to get pregnant after 3 miscarriages and one normal pregnancy and delivery. My problem is not getting pregnant, it's sustaining the pregnancy. I'm 26 years old and I've lost pregnancies at 10, 7, and 7 weeks. I last got pregnant in February of this year, and miscarried in March. My doctor prescribed progesterone because of the possibility that I may have Luteal Phase Defect. My husband I have had all of the genetic testing done which showed nothing abnormal. I did carry my daughter to term while on progesterone for the first 3 months, however I know that the progesterone may or may not have contributed to my full term pregnancy. My question is this: I am 13 dpo and feel very pregnant. Sore breasts, upset stomach, etc. I still have some progesterone left over from my last pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. Would it harm anything to go ahead and start the progesterone just in case? Could it delay my period if I'm not really pregnant, or give a false pregnancy test? We're very anxious to start very early on the progesterone due to the fact that I seem to lose the pregnancies early on. Thanks for any suggestions you can give!
