indigestion in pregnancyFrom: Lea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 7 Oct 1998 19:30:17 -0500 (CDT)
My sister-in-law is 8 weeks pregnant and is having a real rough time with indigestion. From the very start of her pregnancy within minutes after eating she is belching, she feels bloated with heartburn and pain around her diaphragm. I had a mild amount of similar trouble during my early trimester with one of my pregnancies so I gave her the same advice I received, several small light meals rather than 3 large heavy meals, take it easy on dairy products for a few weeks - try skim milk rather than whole milk and avoid gassy foods like broccoli and the like and to also watch the carbohydrates for a few weeks and see if that helps. It did work for me and by the 14th week I was able to eat anything I wanted without having indigestion. It's not working for her. Does anyone have any other suggestions for her to make this time a little more pleasant for her? Thanks in advance
-- Lea
