31 week gestational problemsFrom: Alice (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 6 Oct 1998 12:19:31 -0500 (CDT)
Please help me. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and my last ultrasound picked up 2 arteries in my umbilical cord and a "slightly enlarged" left kidney. I am 31 years old with 3 children. Doctor sent me for an amnio to detect chromosome abnormailities. My question is this, since I had 5 previous sonograms, shouldn't this have been detected earlier, or is this something that cannot be seen until the fetus grows? Am I nuts? I feel that I don't have any choices no matter the outcome of the amnio, just to prepare myself for whatever may happen. I have searched for any relative information on this topic, all of which I have no peace of mind. Is my doctor holding out on me, and just covering is hide? Please any insight into this would be greatly appreciated. Thank You. Alice
