Need ultrasound info pleaseFrom: Jas (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 3 Oct 1998 10:54:02 -0500 (CDT)
Frequently I lurk on a pregnancy expecting board and see many questions and debates arise when girls mention different u/s levels I, II, and III. It appears that many of the women are having level II scans in early pg and at their 18-20 week scans. The debate arises when the question is asked "Why are people having level II u/s"? Many who are having only level I u/s are told that level II's are only for those who have a suspected abnormality with thier babies, and this is simply not the case. My doctors office doesn't even use the level I u/s machine. Can anyone give me a brief description what the differences are among the levels? Also what is the reason so many woman need to have a full bladder for u/s? I can honestly say I have never been required to drink so much fluid before a scan that my bladder is bursting. In fact at the scan office there are signs up that say a full bladder is not necessary before a scan. Is this needed only for a level I u/s? Thanks, Jenn
