Intestinal pain during pregnancyFrom: Melissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 1 Oct 1998 08:21:57 -0500 (CDT)
I am going on 15 weeks pregnant in my 3rd pregnancy. For the past 4 to 5 nights I have been awakened by what I would call intestinal aching. It continues to be a problem off and on throughout the day. A bowel movement seems to relieve the discomfort temporarily;however, it keeps coming back. Occasionally when I stand up I will have pain on my left side that is relieved when I lay down. I am having several soft stools a day and I have discontinued my vitamins temporarily to see if this helps--as of yet it has not. The discomfort is not what I would call rhythmic or a contraction. I went to my doctor and had my cervix checked-he said that it was "rock hard" and diagnosed my problem as ligament pain. I know what ligament pain feels like and this is not it. What could this be? I feel like my digestive system is irritated and has excessive gas. The first twelve weeks I had nausea and severe bloating. The nausea has gone away and the bloating is not as severe. Is there anything I can do to relieve this constant problem? Thank you for any advice!
