Re: Almost 4 months Post PartumFrom: Luanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 21 Sep 1998 10:27:46 -0500 (CDT)
OK, I'm a little late getting in on this, but my husband is also military and I've had to work my way through the system. I'm assuming that had a Non-Availability statement to get your maternity care outside a military hospital. The time period for that statement ended with your 6 week postpartum appointment. You can still return to a civilian OB for ongoing care, but your hands may be tied if you've selected Tricare Prime (the HMO option). Is someone at the military hospital your primary care manager? If you have Tricare Standard, you can return to the civilian OB. You'll be subject to a deductible and copayments. I've never had a problem getting a copy of medical records from a civilian physician to take to a military clinic. It usually takes just a little smile and a joke that you don't want your records to get lost along the way.
