Follow up question for Dr. Ind...From: steph (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 20 Sep 1998 19:52:46 -0500 (CDT)
First, what would we do without you? Thanks so much for taking so much time to answer questions. I really appreciated your answering my question re: when to call the doctor and my "morning" sickness. I did end up calling my doctor and he said to drink as much gatorade as possible, and if I could not keep any fluids or food down for 24 hours straight to call him and go to the ER to get rehydrated with an IV. Needless to say I was a little concerned! Fortunately I haven't gone more than 18 hours without keeping anything at all down since he told me this, but your comment about 3 liters a day sparked a question. I am lucky if I get 1 liter most days. I do drink as much as possible, but for instance, today I vomited from the minute I woke up until about 5pm. If I drink too much at one time it makes me sick again. I'd like to avoid an IV for rehydration at any cost, but don't want to hurt the baby. Sorry for all the questions, but since I have had a miscarriage before i want to make sure I am doing everything I can to keep me and the baby healthy. Thanks so much for your help, and I am praying this ends within a couple weeks! Actually, that sparks a second question. My mom was sick until the day she delivered. Is this hereditary? I'll still be optimistic, but guess I should be prepared... Thanks, and I hope you had a good weekend.
