The amnio decision is tough but a few questions to ask yourself: 1-what would you do with the info gleaned if your baby has a genetic syndrome? terminate? carry to term? 2-how will you handle the rest of your pregnancy not knowing? 3-what if you miscarried your baby due to amnio complications (a very small chance but it does happen (usually quoted risk is 1:250)) We have had 3 babies, each with abnormal ultrasounds and marginal AFP scores. Twice did the amnio. Once did not. Both ways have their risks and difficulties. Good luck in your decision.
