Dr. or Nurse Please... Early Ultrasound Findings :)From: Heather (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 22 Sep 2003 18:16:40 -0500 (CDT)
Hi there! My LMP was Aug 1st, but I ovulated late- 4 weeks ago to be exact, so I suppose that makes me almost 6 weeks pg.! I have 2 children, but experienced my 1st miscarriage in June. So my doc. had me come in for an early ultrasound, and we saw a sac and a heartbeat. I'm wondering these things: 1) Is a heartbeat of 107 beats per minute OK for this point in growth (about 5.5-6 weeks)?? 2) I've heard the statistic of miscarriage is 2-5% after seeing the hearbeat. Is that statistic appilicable to me yet, or is that for a later point in the pregnancy? (I ask this because I miscarried at 7 weeks, after seeing a strong heartbeat only days earlier.) 3) Has there been any conclusive research about whether or not too many early ultrasounds can cause a miscarriage? (My doc seems OK with it, and has offered me a weekly ultrasound until 10 weeks, to reassure me with this current pregnancy.) But I know some people question frequent early ultrasounds... thanks so much! Heather
