My regular pattern has been early in the morning synthroid and in the night prenatals(20 weeks pregnant)

But for the past few weeks, I have been taking synthroid around2-3am in the morning when I get up to pee.

ALso before going to sleep around 9.30-10.00pm I drink a glass of milk.

Can I say that within the 4 hours till 2.00am, the milk may have got digested? I have heard that calcium should not be taken close to synthroid.

The reason why I started doing this was because I have a habit of drinking glass of milk in the morning after I wake up. And after taking synthroid in the morning, waiting for two hours to drink milk was becoming quite difficult.

Should this current pattern of 10.00pm(milk)-2.00am(Synthroid)-7.00am milk) be OK? Or am I definitely not letting synthroid get digested by taking it between calciums?

Thank You.

Dear Anonymous, I wake up at about 2-2:30 am every day too and that's when I take mine, yes it's best taken on an empty stomach with water, 2-3 hours on either side is best for absorbtion so that works out best, then taking other supplements later in the day, avoid, protein, calcicum, iron, walnuts, brocholi close to Synthroid, if you forget your dose and take it later in the day. Synthroid binds with protein for clearance, that is why you take it on an empty stomach, otherwise you don't get enough into your system. So it's ok to have milk with breakfast or before you go to bed. Also be sure to take calcicum supplements in divided doses as your body can only absorb so much calcicum at a time otherwise it's wasted and some forms are absorbed better than others, I take a cal/mag 4times a day. Also take your iron with vitamin"C" for better absorbson, and to get your thyroid levels checked every4-6weeks during pregnancy as your levels may need adjusting several times. Take Care, Marie
