Dear Karen, The doctor was trying to tell you that your levels 14DPO are good and nothing more to be tested until there is a reason and little more could be done this early. The only thing you are doing is wasting money and creating anxiety by taking repeated HPT's, they serve no purpose. Does your doctor know that you are taking OTC progestrone supplements? It's important to work with your doctor. Take Care, Marie

Dear Dr.,

Thank you for answering. Should I worry about the varying HPT results - some are darker than the control, some the same, some come up quickly, some don't? All have been positive. They have been different brands. It the varying appearance a bad sign?

I am 35 and have an 11 year old and a 6 year old. No complications with them. I had one "chemical pregnancy" last month. I am currently 4w6d pregnant. My levels at 14DPO were hcg 178, progesterone 48. I have been using an over the counter natural progesterone supplement which is supposed to deliver 20mg/day. My ob is reluctant to redraw levels - seems confident by history. I am concerned because I am older and my pregnancy symptoms are mild even transient- I have retaken HPT's several times - they are always positive but some are darker than others (different kinds). No cramping/spotting.

Should I insist on the blood levels? Can I just go to the lab and pay out of pocket? Would the progesterone cream mask a non-viable pregnancy?

Thank you - your help is most sincerely appreciated.
