Spinal Xrays at 23 weeks? ADVICE NEEDED!From: ADH (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 9 Sep 2003 08:43:56 -0500 (CDT)
I have a *mild* case of scoliosis and an associated sacral angle of 47 degrees. When I told my OB for informational purposes, my OB said she would like me to see an Orthopedist for evaluation on whether there will be any problem with an epidural or a natural delivery. I have some old spinal xrays from about 10 years ago. I found a highly regarded Orthopedist who specializes in scoliosis, but when I just spoke with their office they said that while I could bring the old film, they wanted to take one new lateral xray. That they didnt think this would cause a problem since it is low dosage. Well this doesnt sound right to me. Everyone is cautious about dental xrays where the fetus is sheltered, it doesnt seem like an abdominal shot is the best idea. Drs- can you weight in?
