Hi Marie, I'm really sorry for what you're going through. I've had an ectopic pregnancy (on my ovary) and needed surgery. They tried the methotrexate before that, but it didn't work for me. Is the doctor sure that your pregnancy is ectopic? Why don't you ask for a sonogram to know what you are dealing with here. If you are miscarrying, then you could let it happen naturally. I've had a miscarriage as well at 7 weeks along. You'll start bleeding and have cramps for a couple of days and you might pass some tissue as well. However, if it's an ectopic pregnancy, I would be uncomfortable in letting it resolve on its own. It could be dangerous. If the pregnancy is ectopic, then there is no way the baby could survive so I would get the methotrexate. Actually, I didn't think methotrexate could abort an intrauterine pregnancy. It could cause defects in a baby... but abortion? Maybe a doctor could answer this... I know what you are going through and it's absolutely terrible. Please take care and know that there is hope. After a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy I now have two beautiful, healthy little boys.
