NOt remotely likely. If this were the case, then doctors wouldn't do internal exams at 36 weeks. The commencement of labour is a hormonal thing, not a physical thing (unless there is severe trauma to the tummy). To answer your first question, if this is your first pregnancy, you probably won't dilate at all until real labour begins.
